About Our Resident Artists
Arts North is not “…just another craft shop…”, but rather a focal point for over two dozen juried artists and artisans who live and produce their crafts on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
Most of these artisans do not open their studios to the general public, and most do not sell their work at wholesale prices to other craft shops. Arts North, therefore, provides them a venue to not only present their work for retail sale to the general public, but also to be included in a collection that only allows work of superior quality.
The group of artisans that follows is subdivided according to their media. Clicking on the media will take you to the list of artists or artisans working in that medium. A short bio of each artist, as well as a few images of each artisan’s work, is provided.
Note that most of the work available is “one of a kind”, so the images we’ve chosen are of work that may well have sold already. Since our artists are constantly adding work to their Arts North display, the best way to see their latest pieces is to visit the gallery during a trip around the Cabot Trail. We can , on occasion, advise by phone or email if a particular piece is still available, or email images of an artist’s recent work should your interest prevail.
Finally, you will find that some artists/artisans appear in more than one category. This occurs because, as with highly talented, imaginative and creative individuals the world over, these folks are seldom satisfied with the status quo, but continue to push their personal envelopes, challenging themselves to additional success on a broader canvas.
We trust you’ll enjoy your tour, and your subsequent visit, as much as we enjoy working with such talented individuals!
